“My career would definitely be different. I guess you would say I’d be the Michael Phelps of Swimming if he wasn’t there.”
He has always been the ultimate sportsman. He may talk about the superior athlete, Michael Phelps; but he refuses to call him ‘His Rival’. Ryan Lochte has given everyone a statement about his teammate-competitor that would surely strike for a lifetime.
Driven by his excellence in sports, Phelps in general is beating 2,168-year-old-record and he’s scoring more than gold than anyone. Will anyone ever dare to say he’s better than him? Huh! Dare to say Lochte
Before Lochte and Phelps, the two Olympic Village roommates compete in the 200-meter individual medley on Thursday night, a pre-dye job of NBC released. Lochte answers truthfully in a way that anyone couldn’t ever imagine.
“Are you glad that Michael’s been around in your era?” NBC to Lochte.
Lochte: “Yes and no. My career would definitely be different. I guess you would say I’d be the Michael Phelps of Swimming if he wasn’t there. But at the same time I love a challenge, and that’s why I do the events that I do and going up against him is a challenge.”
Ryan Lochte may not be on top for now, but he will always be the Ryan Lochte of self-knowledge, team-sports and honesty. Lochte will definitely take his place if Phelps keeps his promise of retiring after Rio.
